The term "Muckraker" was coined by President Theodore Roosevelt. It was used to describe the investigative journalists that uncovered the truth behind corruption behind the businessmen and politicians during the time.
Good job @Boz0
I would have rather seen the user inquire of the definition themselves, but good job nonetheless :)
"muckraker" is a term coined by theodore roosevelt to describe journalists during the progressive era who would "dig up dirt" about politics, government, and big business. some famous muckrakers include ida tarbell, who wrote "The History of the Standard Oil Company" and Upton Sinclair, who wrote "The Jungle". McClure's magazine was famous for its criticism of big business and trusts. also, when T.R. said "muckraker" he considered it a negative term, but these people are now sort of considered revolutionaries, working to change society for the better. as you study the progressive era you'll start to see how influential politically active people were in chaning trusts, child labor laws, working conditions, city sanitation conditions, civil rights etc.
The answer is C because he term muckraker refers to reform-minded journalists who wrote largely for all popular magazines and continued a tradition of investigative journalism reporting; muckrakers often worked to expose social ills and corporate and political corruption.
