please help The function below shows the relationship between the length of each side of a square (y) and the area of the square (x+2): graph of y equals square root of the whole of x plus 2 Which graph best shows the function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=\sqrt{x+2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Draw a chart with values for x and then compute the value of y. Sum as if x = 2 then y = sq root of 4 (2+2) which is 2. Then do it for x= 7..what do you get for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im like really confused

@nelsonjedi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have a graph correct. The graph requires that you need to coordinates (X,Y)..You understand that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation is like a computer. You input a value (x) and the out put is (y). This if I input a value of 2 for (x)...what would my output be for (y)? If I input a value of 7 for (x)..what would be my output for (y)? Lastly are there any values that (x) cannot be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not really sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is correct for the first two so on your graph you would have (2,4) and (7,9) as two points then connect them with a continuous line. But.are there values the x cannot be. Remember you cannot have a square root of a negative value. So (x) cannot never be less than what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try x = -2 what wouldyou get for y? Than try x = -3 what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um 0 and -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You acnnot have a square root of a negative number thus your lowest value for x would be -2 and the coordinates would be (-2,0) for (x,y). Now plot all that on the graph and see which one fits. The point (-2,0) shoul be the starting point and be solid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph of y equals square root of x minus 2 graph of y equals cube root of x plus 2 graph of y equals square root of x plus 2 graph of y equals cube root of x minus 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

those r the answers but they r graphs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure which one it would be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 2 middle ones start at like close to one and then the others start at 2 on the x axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nelsonjedi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I am lost on that one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the same one those r just the answer choices idk this is very confusing but thank u for trying to help me
