Why was Lyndon Johnson important to John F. Kennedy’s victory in 1960?
hint: look up where Johnson is from
right on thanks man
np
he was head of the senate
that's true, his leadership and ability to get things done were big advantages too but in terms of the election, where he's from is a big factor I think
He was from texas and he was the senator so he gained support from the southwest
thats what i got out of it @jim_thompson5910
mainly, with Johnson, they were able to carry Texas (to get enough votes to win the election)
I'm not sure about the southwest, but they definitely won Texas
i figured that too but the only asnwer about geographical location was the southwest

Also, this page says http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_B._Johnson#Nomination "Kennedy realized that he could not be elected without support of traditional Southern Democrats, most of whom had backed Johnson. Kennedy offered Johnson the vice-presidential nomination at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel at 10:15 am on July 14, 1960, the morning after being nominated for president" So basically right from the start, Kennedy knew how important Johnson was
Yeah that's the page l i saw thanks:)
