lim x→9 7x + 9 WHAT IS THE LIMIT?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

You could do this by direct substitution. Replace the x with a 9 and get 7*9 + 9 = 72. If you graphed this (if you had a long enough piece of graph paper, that is), you would see that when x = 9, the function has a value of 72. (9, 72) would be the coordinates.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THATS NOT WHAT THIS QUESTION IS ASKING. ITS ASKING FOR THE LIMIT NOT JUST TO THE NUMBERS.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IMStuck is correct. In this case your function is continuous, so the limit is equal to the function value.

Thank you, HawkIrontusk. I am a high school math teacher after all...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but its not right.Kudos to being a math teacher though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it is right. If you're really not understanding why, then I suggest that you go over your notes again instead of bashing the people who are trying to help you. I taught calculus at my university while I was in graduate school. So now you're had a high school math teacher and a college math teach tell you the same thing. Why do you think you know better than we do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How is that bashing? LOL i submitted the answer and it was wrong. kudos to you too!

Best of luck in your class. You'll need it.
