hartnn (hartnn):

degree is the highest exponent in that polynomila

hartnn (hartnn):

so, get the exponents of each terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 2? I think ...

hartnn (hartnn):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exponents.... are they the x and y things?

hartnn (hartnn):

\(\Large (base)^{exponents}\) like in \(A^B\) A is base, B is exponent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whyy are your explanations so clear :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 was the only exponent right?

hartnn (hartnn):

in first term \(xy = x^1 y^1 \) so total exponent = 2 in 3x^2 exponent = 2 for other terms , exponents were less than 2 so the highest exponent = 2 hence degree = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh... ok, I get it now! Thanks! :)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
