Which tactic was not used to keep blacks from exercising their civil rights in the post-Civil War South? A. Jim Crow laws B. lynching C. due process D. poll taxes
Know what each of the terms mean?
It's due process, I posted that before I checked the book. I should have known better haha.
Hehe. Yes. Jim Crow = anti-black laws. Lynching = murder (they used to sell postcards of lynched blacks.) Due process = Taking legal steps in a trial, arrest, etc. Poll taxes = pay to vote (which excludes poor.)
And as we all know, post-Civil War Southerners were much too ignorant to any change to actually create a case against African Americans. The only proof they had was that their skin color was different.. Thank you
Yes. Oddly, there were many times when Blacks were seen as better. Every time a new group came to the USA, they were originally treated worse than Blacks. This happened to the large influxes of Irish, Germans, Chinese, Jews, and so on. (One of my sociology classes happened to be specifically on this set of topics: minority relations.)
Oh, sociology.. If I could get a job as a sociologist, I would. Extremely interesting field of study.
Well, there are a lot of things it can lead to. Anything from counseling, to social work, to sociological research. And the research part lets it spread into a ton of other things. http://www.bhsu.edu/academics/programsmajors/behavioralsciences/sociology/careers/tabid/4810/default.aspx
