If we multiply the length of one side by the scale factor we get the length of the corresponding side of the smaller figure
So let's say the figure is a rectangle .. |dw:1401075436331:dw|
Dimension of larger rectangle × scale factor = dimension of smaller rectangle
So ... 8 x scale factor = 2 scale factor = 2/8 simplify 2/8 = 1/4 which is the answer : )
