1. A.the rates of change are equal B. the graph has a greater rate of change. C. the table has a greater rate of change D. none of the above

@Hero

hero (hero):

Hint: Rate of Change is just another word for slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think c?

hero (hero):

Do you know how to calculate the slope of a line given two points? Take two points from the graph and calculate the slope. Then take two points from the table and calculate the slope. Then compare whether or not one slope is greater than the other or if the slopes are equal to each other.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is y2-y1 over x2-x1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im pretty sure the table has greater rate of change because the slope for the graph is -1 and the slope of the table is 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathslover

hero (hero):

Show me the work you did to calculate the slope of the graph.

hero (hero):

The "negative" in -1 implies that the graph is decreasing. But it is increasing, not decreasing. Try calculating the slope once more and show your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph 0-0 1- -1 2 table 0-1 -1-0 1 so its B?

hero (hero):

You're supposed to use two different points to calculate the slope, not the same point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did. i used -1,0 and 1,0 then -1,0 and 0,1

hero (hero):

In that case, you didn't use the right (x,y) coordinates to calculate the slope
