U.S. C onstitution implements separation of powers and checks and balances. Checks and balances are caps put on government offices. Which can be approve or disapprove by government offices(Levin,Waldman,2012). The government offices check each other so that no one government office have all the say so on a government issue, the balance each government office to make sure that government don't become to influential over others. One of the biggest debates that has been going on in the world today is same sex marriages. In some states same sex marriages are allowed and in others it is consider unconstitutional. Some think that when it comes to marriages it should be just between a man and a woman(Dixion .J 2004). Same sex marriages miss out on a lot of benefits that are usually offered to a man and woman marriage. Churches are getting involved with this debate, also by either not allowing the same sex couple to join the church are even disallow the member from the church. I personal don't have a opinion on the matter. Life is to short to be unhappy in this world. So to me whatever makes your boat float then do it. I'm not your maker or your judger!!! The way our government is set up is with separation of powers and checks and balances. This makes sure no one branch of the government has too much power or not enough power to be able to assert the power that they do have. This makes it fair for everyone. The framers put these implementations in place because they believed it make our government more durable and I already stated earlier to make sure that no one branch would have too much power to violate the civil liberties of the citizens. The government shutdown in October 2013 is an example of the checks and balances that we have in place. The Affordable Care Act was written up by President Obama and given to congress for approval. It was scheduled to go into effect for the new fiscal year which was 1 October 2013. This shows the checks of the Executive branch by the Legislative branch. The Republicans in the House of Representatives did not want to support the legislation and refused to pass it. Democrats in the house then refused to roll back the health reform law and demanded the funding for the bill. This intern resulted in the shutdown until an agreement could be reached. So the separation of powers and checks and balances are working but it could be better by moving a little faster and implementing some fail safe type measures to ensure things like the government shutdown doesn't happen again saving thousands of jobs.
