how log 10 is equal to 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that a question in ur textbook or u came up with it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

log 10's base is 10 and 10 raised to the power of 1 gives answer 10 so there u hv it

OpenStudy (mrnood):

the definition of the log function is: if \[y= \log _{n}(x)\] then \[n ^{y}=x\] so \[10^{1}=10\] Therefore\[\log _{10}(10)=1\]

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

It seems to me that explaining how log 10 = 1 is MUCH easier than explaining how log 2 = .3010 Then again, the person who posted this question is no longer here. WOW - you'd think if you posted a question, you'd wait for an answer.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Yeah - it bugs me too. Many posters ask a question, then go offline, presumably expecting the full answer to be there waiting when they next log in.
