HELP! In some cases fever is beneficial to the body, particularly if it is fighting an active infection. The elevated temperatures increase the activity of some enzymes in white blood cells. Why is this? Answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The increased temperature alters the 3-dimensional conformation of the protein making it more active. The increased temperature decreases the effects of microbial toxins that negatively affect enzyme function. The increased temperature speeds enzyme movement along microfilament tracks. The increased temperature increases the cell’s stores of ATP. The increased temperature makes the cell plasma membrane less permeable, so less enzyme is lost.

First option is best, though the exact nature of how a fever helps is not known. @Solartwo
