A circle has an area of 50.24 in squared. What is its diameter
Okay so what you want to do is divide 50.24 by pi. That'll give you 16. Next find the square root. That'll give you the radius, but what you want is the diameter so multiply that by 2. Now what did you get?
Ok, this one's not too bad! The formula for the area for a circle is\[A=\pi r ^{2}\]We do not know the radius, but we do know the area. So that is the value will fill into our equation.\[50.24 = \pi r ^{2}\]From there we will solve for r. Divide both sides by pi. Then take the square root of it to solve for r. See that? Of course, the diameter is two times the radius, so multiply it by 2 for the length of the diameter.
Thank you both. Great answers!! I got 4
4 is the radius. Multiply that by 2 to get the diameter.
Thank you! I got 8 and typed it wrong
You're welcome!
1 more please 2 complementary angles have measures of (2x-24) and (x+3). What is the measure of the larger of the 2 angles
Complementary angles are angles that add up to 90 degrees. So that means if we add (2x-24) and (x+3) it should equal 90. Get it?
@grantsaidiner
I got 37. Is that correct?
Yes x=37 Now plug that in in 2x-24 and solve
Ok so I got 50
So does that mean the larger on is 2x-24 and not x+3
That's correct!
Yes.
Wow your awesome. Thank you. I'm trying to explain this to my 13 yr old and I couldn't remember anything tonight
To check your answer though you should solve for x+3 and then add both answers. If you get 90 then your answer is correct.
You're welcome!
Have a great night.
