Am I correct? Polynomials

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x+10x^2-x^3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this a 4th degree trinomial?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Why do you call it 4th degree ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because there are 3 terms, but 3-2 is 1. 1+3=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3-2 being the exponents

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Degree is simply the highest power of the variable in a polynomial. (Note that it has to be non negative integer)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it a 3rd degree?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):
