OpenStudy (calculusxy):

When you're to find the value of a variable, you have to do the inverse operation. Look at the lines, see where you have to do the inverse operations.

The best way to see the mistake is to work the problem out yourself, and compare when you get a different result, then you know that they messed up on that line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know where to start

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Look at the first line, we see that there is the equation really. Then look at the second line, we see that there is the part where you are to take out the 2x from the right side. My major hint, is to look at that line, see what mistake is being made while computing in this line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

After you notice the mistake tell me what you got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll try

geerky42 (geerky42):

Yep, do what Embryo said.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

OK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got lost i don't know

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Try what Embryo did.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait when it says 2x and at the bottom it says x = -1/3 am i supposed to multiply 2 x -1/3?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Don't make it much more harder than it is. Look at line 2 only.
