Describe the experiment of the Columbus Iselin. Did it support or disprove John Martin s hypothesis?HELPPPP PLZZZZ

@BioEpic

OpenStudy (solidicecream):

The experiment showed that adding iron to the sea can provoke phytoplankton to bloom, but not enough to cause major climatic change. Later experiments showed greater plankton bloom. Overall it supported the hypothesis, but it wasn't the final word. It is still unclear if it would be possible or ethical to provoke global plankton blooms to reduce atmospheric CO2 check this site out for more information http://www.palomar.edu/oceanography/iron.htm

how can I explain that in my own words?

OpenStudy (bioepic):

Hi

OpenStudy (bioepic):

It showed that adding iron to the sea can provoke a modest phytoplankton bloom, but not enough to cause major climatic change. Later experiments showed greater plankton bloom. Overall it supported the hypothesis, but it wasn't the final word.
