A box contains 3 cherry frozen treats and 2 grape frozen treats. Maggie takes a treat from the box without looking, gives it to her brother, and then selects another treat. What is the probability that her brother gets a grape treat and she gets a cherry treat?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

There are 5 treats altogether, 3/5 is the probability of choosing a cherry treat, and 2/5 is the probability of choosing a grape treat. We want the probability her brother gets a grape and she gets a cherry: For her first pick, she must pick up a grape treat which is 2/5. Now there are only 4 treats left, she doesn't put the grape one back, there are still 3 cherry treats though, that hasn't changed. So the probability she chooses a cherry treat is 3/4. We multiply these together and we get: 2/5 x 3/4 = 3/10 or 0.3 Hope I've helped!
