Identify the domain of the equation y = x2 − 6x + 1. A. x ≤ 3 B. x ≥ −8 C. x ≥ −2 D. All real numbers

OpenStudy (ciarán95):

The domain of an equation is all the values of 'x' when we can substitute in for in the equation and make sure we will return a value for 'y'. In y = x^2 - 6x + 1, there are no restrictions to the values of 'x' we can enter, as if we substitute in any real value, we will get a real value out equal to 'y' (try yourself to see). So, the domain is all real numbers (D.).
