Within the first three acts of Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth goes from fighting courageously and heroically on the battlefield to maliciously ordering the murder of his old friend, Banquo. As a result, it is increasingly difficult for readers and audience members to view Macbeth sympathetically. What other unlikable or unsympathetic protagonists have you encountered in other stories, novels, television shows, or movies? Describe why these figures were unsympathetic. Why might an author choose to focus on a character who readers and audience members view negatively?
I once saw this movie "ruthless people". (Its kind of difficult to answer this question fully in your words if you havent seen the movie!) The movie was about this couple to kidnapped a rich woman. They tried to manipulate the womans husband into giving them money for his wife back. Long story short, the kidnappers were actually really good people! Years prior to this kidnapping, the rich womans husband stole the fashion design idea of the female kidnapper. In my opinion, the writer wrote this and focused on a character who the audience might view negatively to show the "bad guys'" (per say) to kind of show their side of the story. There are a lot of bad people in the world who do awful thing. But that person may be starving, they could be stealing all that food and robbing people to feed their family. You never know! (btw at the end of the movie, the woman became friends with the kidnappers and helped them get away!)
