OpenStudy (zale101):

How can Zero=Infinity, how can they be compared?

OpenStudy (zale101):

aren't they two distinguishable concepts..?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

With respect to zero what can you tell is an infinity ?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Reply miss @Zale101

mathslover (mathslover):

o.O Are they even equal?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Standing at point 0 in a real number line you see in the right most a number which it as infinity. Now imagine the number at infinity is marked as B and point zero is called A. Then, from A you see point B as infinity.

OpenStudy (zale101):

for both negative and positive, do i always use 0?

mathslover (mathslover):

@Zale101 : Not always! Limits approaching to infinity can be real numbers too.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Now imagine yourself at B which is infinity.... see point A (which is now on your left). Where is point A situated with respect current point B? of coarse it is at infinity which is THE POINT ZERO. Hence point A is it self infinity or, ZERO = INFINITY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

err

mathslover (mathslover):

o.O zero is nothing while infinity is everything. They can't be equal.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Thanks for the compliment @aajugdar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hehe no its just that level 99 is asking funny questions so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Zale101 infinity is also not defined

OpenStudy (zale101):

if 0 is marked as infinity, that means there's a point?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

yes

OpenStudy (zale101):

and that point is infinity

OpenStudy (zale101):

?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

For Example We know the biggest number discovered till now is GOOGOLPLEX do you think is it the biggest number @Zale101 ?

mathslover (mathslover):

OpenStudy (goformit100):

@Justin9529

OpenStudy (zale101):

@goformit100 i understand what's infinity mean, but they way it's always defined as 0..i don't get it and @aajugdar , if a number divides by infinity, which is a number/0 does that mean it doesn't exist? Will number/0 and a number/infinity e the same meaning?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

according to ur theory infinity/0 should be 1 because infinity = 0 hehehe ^^ any number/ infinity will always be 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but we dont consider any number/ 0 = infinity because 0 is nothing,it isnt much complex to understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0 is neither positive nor negative,0 is nothing

OpenStudy (zale101):

i've always been taught that 0 is a number, and nothing but infinity is not a number. but nothing ..

OpenStudy (zale101):

so they're not the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now on real number line|dw:1401691634237:dw| you can clearly see the difference
