I'm writing a web page about logarithms to express (for the first time) explanations that can actually be understood. (LOL) Anyway, I'll also have to discuss exponentiation. If we have an equation 2³ = 8 2 is the base, 3 is the exponent and 8 is called what? The answer? The result? I'm just wondering if the '8' had a specific, mathematical name. Conversely, if we state log(2) 8 = 3 then 2 is the base, but what are the terms for '8' and '3'?
The anitlogarithm. Ever looked at these sites on it? http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/algtrig/ATE9/indexATE9.htm http://www.purplemath.com/modules/logs.htm http://www.purplemath.com/modules/logrules.htm
I visited a LOT of sites but I know I did NOT go to regentsprep at all. The link http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/algtrig/ATE9/logs.htm seems to be what I wanted. (And thanks for actually finding the answer of "antilogarithm"). I find it funny that a LOT of websites I visited used the 2³ = 8 example. LOL Thanks again.
what's name the site do you have, @wolf1728 ? i want visit there :)
RadEn My website is www.1728.com (also known as www.1728.org) (Now you see where my username originated). Oh and what is 1,728? 1728 = 12•12•12 or 12³
great, that's nice site. i like it !
Thanks RadEn
Thanks all :-)
