A message I would like to convey it to everyone. This is not a feedback , but i didn't find a more better place to post
I have noticed most people don't close their questions after they have been answered So I wish to convey this to all OS users Kindly close them after they have been answered. Sometimes this can create a nuisance. Thank you.
"more better"
@No.name - Thanks for that. It is really a great message. I hope more and more users will see it, and most importantly, they will follow it.
Yw , I hope it too :-)
No new users come to the OS feedback. Go post this out of subject in the mathematics section. (:
Maybe But its strictly prohibited , and i may not be able to visit this site in the future as i may get suspended/banned for creating inappropriate posts. if i post this in math. I would maybe take a moderator's permission to do so.
@amistre64
I wanted to ask whether i could post this in math section , since it is a more active section.\ Or maybe you can, or you may not , your choice
@amistre64
its not critical. the feedback section is the best place for it. What this deals with is that you think people should close their posts based on how complete you feel the posts are. That simply is not your call. It is the original poster than determines when they fell the question has been answered sufficiently. If they want to post a new question, then they would have to close it by default.
if their account goes stagnant, then their question is simply buried under the new questions that come up. when they log back in their question is still blocking their attempts at any new questions they may ask. Or they simply dont come back and like after a year or so it may be a good time frame to close the stale questions.
But, amistre, just a thought - > If the users who are helped already, and don't need any help in future related to that particular question , then they should close it...! As there are many users who wish to help others, then they just keep scrolling in order to find some unanswered questions...
lol, if you come across a 6 month question, then feel free to participate on it. just dont expect any real time interactions to happen :)
No one work's 24/7 , Plus there are different time-zones. We live in a spherical globe , not a circular flat-disk

It may seem trivial but to me its not.
Lol! Not talking about *that* long.. but yes, if the questions are categorized to Open and Closed.. then the thing should be followed. Unanswered questions should stay in Open and Answered ones in Closed section. Just assuming that they will get burried by the other new questions, doesn't make it better. Though, i agree that it is upto the asker whether he wants to close it or not... as he may even have a doubt in tht question after 1 year also...
of course negating the fact that the app doesn't have a close button for questions >.>
apps are pointless :)
Or better yet, integrate the ability for the Ambi's to close questions if they deem it necessary.
One thing I suggested was this: If a question is open for say a week, send a message that the person needs to bump it or it will be closed. Don't let them opt out of these emails. This will get people to either close their questions to avoid reminders or auto close them.
And if they bump it, they get another week. So people could still leave open long standing tutorials, etc.
I like that idea ^^ The only issue is that it would be hard to keep up with sending to reminders to the users.
Automated. Just a chron job and a script.
Oh i see. That would be better then. I would find those messages annoying. If that were to be installed, i think that i would work.
Yes, people would close it in a reasonable time just to not get an email reminder.
@e.mccormick -> That's a great idea. Thanks.
I wouldn't want to bump my tutorial every week... Also after a while the bump timer exceeds a week
And, most users who ask questions and then leave sign up with fake email addresses. So a reminder would be useless. More reason to make email verification mandatory.
ah
No i was thinking to send personal messages in their OS inbox @thomaster. I am not sure that the actual email would be as effective.
Yes just send a PM to that person to politely close their question once it has been answered :)
And if it is a new user, you can explain how to close the question, because sometimes new users don't know and just leave their question open.
I'm balling out Atlanta @sammixboo
