-2(3z+7)=10

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

1) divide both sides by -2 2) subtract 7 from both sides 3) divide both sides by 3

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Do you know the distribution property? You need to multiply the -2 through the parenthesis. You multiply the 3z by -2, and get -6z and then you multiply the -2 by 7 to get -14. So the left side of the equation looks like this: -6z - 14. And it equals 10. To solve for z, you first need to get it alone. Add the 14 to both sides, and that makes our equation become -6z = 24. Now divide both sides by -6 to get z alone. 24/-6 = ???
