Gradient = -8
Y-intercept = 1
The equation would be y=8x + 1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Sorry for x=0 y should be 8 not 1. Please recheck
Miracrown (miracrown):
Almost! Check your slope again... It should be negative, right?
Miracrown (miracrown):
Okay double-check that y-intercept again... Looks a little higher than 1

Yes the slope is negative
OpenStudy (shelld93):
im confused ..
OpenStudy (shelld93):
the slope is negative so the gradient is -8 isnt it ?
Miracrown (miracrown):
We need the y value when the line crosses the y axis.
So y = -8x + 8 is your equation
Miracrown (miracrown):
Yes I imagine they want a negative gradient, come to think of it.

so the gradient is -8 and y intercept is 8 ?

A goof method of getting equation is
x/ (value of x intercept) + y/ (value of y intercept) = 1
y intercept is the y where the line intersects y axis (Correct in this case 8)
x/(value of x intercept) + y/8 = 1
value of x intercept is where the line intersects x axis
