**PLEASE HELP!! I was out of school sick when we learned about this, and now I have to have this writing exam in class by 12 and I know nothing about it, please help!!! Summarize the details of McCulloch v. Maryland and Gibbons v. Ogden from Jackson’s perspective
•McCulloch v. Maryland (1819, Marshall). The Court ruled that states cannot tax the federal government, i.e. the Bank of the United States; the phrase "the power to tax is the power to destroy"; confirmed the constitutionality of the Bank of the United States. •Gibbons v. Ogden (1824, Marshall). Clarified the commerce clause and affirmed Congressional power over interstate commerce. Both of these are really important landmark cases on all American History exam. When ever John Marshall ruled on a case, you should know that he tried to expand Federal power. Jackson would have oppsed these rulings because he was the Champion of the Common Man and he believed the power belonged to the people. Thus, he would have opposed any legislation that made the government stronger than the people; in particular, the bank.
