PLEASE HELP I WILL FAN AND MEDAL AND BE YOUR BEST FRIEND 1. Calculate the slope of a line (rate of change) using the following two ordered pairs: (1,3) & (4, -9).

What is the point slope formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it isnt given @peddani

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slope is rise over run, right? So you need to look at the difference of the rise over the difference of the run. \[\frac{ y_{1}-y_{2} }{ x_{1}-x_{2} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really dont know how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just label (1,3) and (4, -9) like this. x1, y1 x2, y2 (1, 3) (4, -9). then you plug it into the formula and get 3+9 over 1-4. that gives you 12/-3, and you simplify it to get -4 as the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay that makes sense thank you could you help me with some more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure, i can help, but only for a little bit. i have some schoolwork to do, myself. xD and you should probably post in another thread.
