OpenStudy (anonymous):

A state has a limit on the lengths of cargo trains. The train cannot exceed a length of 1,100 ft. Train A has 28 cars at 40 feet each, and train B has 34 cars at 30 feet each. Do the trains meet the requirement?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

To figure out the length of train A, take the total number of cars (28) and multiply it by how long each car is (40). The length then of train A is 28 * 40 = 1120 feet. That's longer than 1,100, right? So that one exceeds the state's requirements. Train B has 34 cars at 30 feet each, so the total measurement of train B is 34 * 30 = 1,020 feet. That one does not exceed the state's requirements, so it is good. Train A is too long though.
