OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

Can someone please check my work? (Will post screenshots)

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

OpenStudy (nikato):

4 is wrong

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

is that the only one? or are you still looking?

OpenStudy (nikato):

6 is wrong

OpenStudy (nikato):

7 is wrong

OpenStudy (nikato):

9 is wrong

OpenStudy (nikato):

10 is worng

OpenStudy (nikato):

11 and 12 are wrong

OpenStudy (nikato):

14 is wrong

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

Can you help me correct them?

OpenStudy (nikato):

15 is wrong

OpenStudy (nikato):

and sure. which one do you need help on correcting?

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

Any of them? Im just really confused on what I should do?

OpenStudy (nikato):

well for 4, you were colse. just switch the denominator and numerator of your answer for the correct one. i think you made a minor mistake somewhere

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

ohkay thanks!

OpenStudy (nikato):

do you want to show me how you did 6? you were close again but you might have missed something

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

let me take a picture of my note book

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

is the answer the first one?

OpenStudy (nikato):

no. its C

OpenStudy (nikato):

Should be like this

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

oh ohkay thank you

OpenStudy (nikato):

@Madgirlwithabluebox which question do you want to do next?

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

7? So we keep going in order?

OpenStudy (nikato):

ok. for 7, it was similar to 6. except i arranged the terms in descending order before dividing

OpenStudy (nikato):

Like this

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

Oh ohkay

OpenStudy (nikato):

its like elementary long division where you have to carry stuff and the remainders

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

oh I get it ohkay..

OpenStudy (nikato):

ok. now lets do 9. how did you do that? did you remember to find the common denomniator first?

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

uhhh no

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

Is it the 3rd answer?

OpenStudy (nikato):

no. its A. the first thing is to find their common denominator which is (x-3)(x-2). do you know how to find it?

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

no.. can you explain to me?

OpenStudy (nikato):

well... theres actually nothing much to explain. because in order to add or subtract two fractions, they must first have the same denominator. since one of the denominator is x-3 and the other is x-2, the closest thing they have in common would just be (x-3)(x-2)

OpenStudy (nikato):

or with something more simple, lets say you have 1/3 and 4/15. their common denominator would be 15. because 3x5=15 and 15x1=15. 3 and 15 can easily be multiplied by a number to get 15

OpenStudy (madgirlwithabluebox):

oh ohkay

OpenStudy (nikato):

so this is what i did |dw:1402025489227:dw|
