Find the gradient and y-intercept of the line below
y intercept is 8
didn't we do this one before? this exact same problem?
x intercept is 1
Not really. You said its tricky because they line up differently and then i never heard from you again :/ And many others have just confused me to the point of no return
this was the tricky one because the scale is different on the axes over one, down eight
slope is therefore \(-8\)
now slope is -8
so then the gradient is -8 over 1
clear? yes, but don't write "over 1" because your math teacher will think you are daft \[\frac{-8}{1}=-8\]
yeah i just spell stuff out on here. and i really confused as to what exactly the y intercept is is it the point that the lines runs through the y axis ?
yes
which makes it 8
yes
then the equation would be y=-8x + 8
yes
thank you ! ive had so many people come at me all at once with this question that I never understood a bit of it.
thanks heaps.
is it clear now? is there another you would like to do?
yw heaps
uh one sec and ill check whats next
theres another question I have posted that has been really unclear and i dont know why my answer is different to googles.
Draw the graph of the line that passes through the point (0, –9) and has a gradient of 4.
ok we can do that
so the equation will be \(y=4x-9\) right?
|dw:1402024115293:dw| thats how i started. yep i got the equation.
