Help with a triangle math problem! With this question, I'm supposed to find a three different ways... The first way I used is the law of sines.. What other two ways could I put down for the answer? Pic attached below! Oh! And I found that a=22.65

@ganeshie8 Could ya help me out? :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're trying to find \(a\) ? or \(b\) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a! Well, three different ways to find a.. I'm guessing they're referring to formulas?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

can u show me how u got \(a = 22.5\) quick ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

*22.65

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure. This is what I put on my worksheet a = (25 / sin( 90 ) ) * sin( 65 )

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Excellent !

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're familiar with SOH-CAH-TOA right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganehie8 Yes and no.. I mean I get that SOH-CAH-TOA means remembering how to compute, sine, cosine, etc.. But I just learned all of this last week, so I'm not too proficient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait! Would the other two ways to solve for a just be to find cos and tan??

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

sin and cos will do :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\sin (\theta) = \dfrac{\text{opposite}}{\text{hypotenuse}}\) \(\cos(\theta) = \dfrac{\text{adjacent}}{\text{hypotenuse}}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh!! I feel so dumb, yet enlightened! Thankk you!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :) \(\sin (65) = \dfrac{\text{a}}{\text{25}}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And a would be 10.56 since the 22.65 is adjacent?
