Which sentence describes an external conflict? Roland must ride his bike through a monsoon to get home. Roland will get kicked off the team if he gets overconfident. Roland must practice every day if he wants to be picked first. Roland is the protagonist of this short story.
I think it's "Roland must ride his bike through a monsoon to get home."
T'is Roland riding through the monsoon.
Wow, this is a interesting question! I did some quick research, and I assume that "Roland must practice every day if he wants to be picked first." is correct. First, let us define external conflict: Struggle of a character against a external force. In the answer I provided, Roland must compete other players to get picked first, thus it is external conflict. "Roland must ride his bike through a monsoon to get home" isn't that much of a conflict. Roland isn't competing against anything. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I think. Good luck!
It's A. 'Roland must ride his bike through a monsoon to get home' External conflict deals with an outside force opposing the protagonist on his journey. With your given options , A is the logical answer. B,C,D, deal with internal forces( protagonist has to deal with his problems by himself ) example Ana has to decide whither or not to tell Cody she likes him. Ana passes pass and forth not coming to a decision.
Magy's probbaly right, thanks for answering magy33 :) I'll be interested to see what the actual correct answer was - please update this when you know!
