Find the cosecant of angle A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{hypotenuse}{opposite}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13/5 but the options are 12/5, 12/13 , 13/12 , 5/12

So, lets say that theta is located in angle BAC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since cosecant is hypotenuse/ opposite , we have to look across from theta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's cosecant part of? I've only heard of Sine, Cosine, and Tangent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cosecant is the 1/sine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since theta is not marked, you can have many answers. If we take from angle BAC, then have opposite = 12 and the hypotenuse = 13. THE HYPOTENUSE ALWAYS STAYS THE SAME. If you ever have trouble finding it, always find your right angle and the side across is hypotenuse. So if we placed theta at angle BAC, we would have sec = 13/12

^ theta is given, I suppose. It is the angle A.
