Triangle ABC is congruent to triangle DEF. In triangle ABC, side AB measures 4, side BC measures x+8, and side CA measures 8. In triangle DEF, side DE measures 4, side EF measures 3x+3, and side FD measures 8. What equation would help you to solve for the side length of BC and EF? Explain your reasoning using complete sentences.

Please I really need help. I have no clue on how to do this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would I use the SSS theorem?

OpenStudy (shamim):

ys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, how's this? I would use the SSS theorem because you can figure out what all the side's values are. (What else can I add to this?)

OpenStudy (shamim):

i m in bus. so difficult to type. bt i wanna help u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. So... How can I solve this question? It doesn't not matter if it takes a little bit to write it all out.

OpenStudy (shamim):

x+8=3x+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the equation I would use to solve it? (here's what I have so far: I would use the SSS theorem because you can figure out what all the side's values are. 4=4 is one side. 8=8 is one side. x+8=3x+3 is one side.

@robtobey Can you please help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I figured it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 8 = 3 x + 3\[x=\frac{5}{2} \]Replace each x below with 5/2 .\[\{x+8,3 x+3\}\text{/.}\, x\to \frac{5}{2} \]\[\left\{\frac{21}{2},\frac{21}{2}\right\} \]
