OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Emma, Erin, and Eden completed the problem below. A. Who completed the problem correctly? B. What did the other two students do wrong on their answers?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

My answers: A. Emma completed the problem correctly. B. Erin multiplied the exponents 5 and 2, and Eden didn't multiply 6 and 6.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

@campbell_st @iambatman @jigglypuff314 @jim_thompson5910 @YanaSidlinskiy

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

x^2 * x^5 = x^(2+5) = x^7 you don't get (x^2)^7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Eden did it correctly, Erin instead of adding the exponents multiplied them, and Emma added the exponents but multiplied the factors when she should have left them alone.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Emma did not solve it correctly. The laws of exponents say that a^m * a^n = a^(m+n) So the base a does not need to be multiplied.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

So Eden did it correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

ok thanks
