need help!!! A U (C' U B') u = abcdefjhijk a =acdfgi b=bcdfg c=abfij

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

C' is the set of everything that is NOT in set C

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so it's like the opposite of set C

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If C = {a,b,f,i,j}, then what is C' equal to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cdeghk

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

C' = {c,d,e,g,h,k} good

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how about B'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aehijk

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Correct, B' = {a,e,h,i,j,k}

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Union C' and B' to get ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a,ehijk U abfij

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what overall set do you get when you union those two?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when you union C' = {c,d,e,g,h,k} and B' = {a,e,h,i,j,k}, you just combine the two sets to form a bigger set. You toss out the duplicates So C' U B' = {a,c,d,e,g,h,i,j,k}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Then you union that with set A
