Which is a solution to the equation 6x + y = –4? A. (2, 8) B. (1, –10) C. (2, –8) D. (1, 2)
Isolate y, and give those values and you will see
Okay see @Shay17 , if I want to find if a set of values of (x,y) are the solution of some equation say f(x,y) = 0, then I just plugin the values of x and y in LHS and evaluate the value. If value in LHS = RHS, then that set of values is a solution.
For example, lets take the option A, okay ?
Now, I am going to put x = 2 and y = 8 in LHS i.e. 6x + y. Can you tell me what do you get ?
@Shay17 you there ?
yea whats up
Well I was asking that can you calculate the value of 6x+y when x = 2 and y = 8
20
Great work Now is 20 (the value you obtained from LHS) equal to -4 (the value in RHS). If yes, then A is a solution if not then no.
So, is (2,8) a solution ?
no
@ikatouni , I was asking this question to you. Sorry @Shay17 , I thought you asked the question
Well that's pretty right. So, A is not the correct answer. Try using the same method for other options @ikatouni
It's B
I agree.
Yea @ikatouni asked this same question earlier though I thought I answered
so its 1,-10
I said B so yea
