Do you know what a linear equation looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nelsonjedi not really

\[y=bx+c\] Where b = slope of the line and c is a constant.

A linear equation is an equation that increases by a constant and is a straight line when graphed, hence "linear". A quadratic equation is an equation that includes a, b, c, and x, and x is being squared, hence "quad"ratic. When you set the two equations equal to each other, you solve for the coordinates to get your solution, or intersection of the equations. You can also do this by graphing it and observing where the two equations intersect.

quadratic equation is \[a(x ^{2}) +bx+c=0\]
