HELP?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whatcha need? :)

OpenStudy (abbie):

sorry my OS is really slow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't I know it. :) I don't know how to do this one but, @ganeshie8 might be ab;e tp help. Or @mathmate and @zepdrix. :p

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Hasn't someone already answered this one yesterday?

OpenStudy (abbie):

@ganeshie8 can you please help me?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

start by writing out the coordinates of vertices

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Look at the given graph : A = ? B = ? C = ? D = ?

OpenStudy (abbie):

are these correct? A= (-3,1) B= (4,-3) C= (2,3) D= (-1,4)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Excellent !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u hv to scale each multiplying all numbers with for and take the exact values there are mistakes

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

they look correct to me :) next just apply the dilation rule for each vertex : multiply both x and y values by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 y multiply by 5 its 4 i think look at the scalling factor

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

for example, the vertex A goes like below : A= (-3,1) -----> (-3*4, 1*4)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Oh ya the scale factor is 4 !! thanks for catching the typo :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

So the image of A after dilation is (-12, 4)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Find the image of other vertices similarly - just multiply both x and y values by the scale factor 4

OpenStudy (abbie):

for all the coordinates?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yep !

OpenStudy (abbie):

A= (-12, 4) B= (16, -12) C= (8, -12) D= (-4, 16)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hey use prime notation for image coordinates after dilation

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

A= (-3,1) ----> A' = (-12, 4) B= (4,-3) ----> B' = (16, -12) C= (2,3) ----> C' = (8, -12) D= (-1,4) ----> D' = (-4, 16)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

btw your answer is correct ! very good work !!

OpenStudy (abbie):

what do u mean?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

label the vertices of image and preimage differently. dont call them both A

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

preimage = A image = A'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

don't bother about it if it confuses u, its just a notation thing :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

``` A= (-12, 4) B= (16, -12) C= (8, -12) D= (-4, 16) ``` You're done after that ^
