How do I learn Organic and Inorganic Chemistry best?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

The best way to do it is to practise it. Read your book and do as many problems as you can.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

praktiss*

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Yes, practicing is key. http://www.masterorganicchemistry.com has some great resources too.

OpenStudy (koikkara):

Exactly, Practice is the Key to Success Right ?? Thank YOU !! Nice to Meet YoU !! @troubledOChemStudent

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I don't believe practice makes perfect or key to success. There are other factors like dedication and self-preservation.

I pretty much have a foundation on Organic Chemistry since I took it on my 4th year of high school, although I had trouble with naming branched chains and the nomenclatures. I pretty much had zeros all over my papers on while on that topic. And, I read that Inorganic Chemistry is harder? Since its about all 118 elements in the periodic table. I will be taking Inorganic Chemistry on my First Semester and Organic Chemistry on my Second Semester. So you can guess that I'm pretty petrified right now. I don't have any foundation whatsoever with Inorganic Chemistry and it is what's frightening me the most. @abb0t @JoannaBlackwelder @Koikkara @aaronq -- Oh, and thanks for the website @JoannaBlackwelder. And for the warm welcome @Koikkara <3

OpenStudy (abb0t):

have you actually completed one year of college-level general chemistry and or scored a perfect 5 on AP chemistry? College usually doesn't allow a student to enter into organic and or inorganic without a fundamental understanding of general chemistry. Organic and inorganic both are very tough courses that require a much deeper and more unique way of thinking than is required at introductory level, high school, and even 1st year chemistry course level. Not impossible, but very demanding if you don't understand the basics because much like math, chemistry is a very cumulative subject which doesn't really introduce new topics but rather expands on previous material and the transition can be very overwhelming at some point. Especially when you enter into organic.

I don't, that's the "thing" about Philippine education, you can get out of High School as long as you finished your 4th (Senior) year. And go straight to college. No preparatory. Just straight to the University. @abb0t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb0t and yes, I am absolutely sure I'll be taking Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Series next year.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

@troubledOChemStudent what topics in organic chemistry have you covered?
