Describe the difference between speed and velocity and indicate if these are scalar or vector quantities

OpenStudy (matt101):

Vectors have magnitude (size) as well as direction. Scalars only have magnitude. Velocity is a vector while speed is a scalar. For instance, if you were traveling at 5 m/s, that would be your speed, but if you were traveling at 5 m/s north, that would be your velocity.
