x^2-2x+3=0
Find two numbers when you multiply them by each other they will give you three and when you add them together they give you -2.
Thank you Bob I have tried to do that but this quadratic problem is not factor-able, and I don't know what else to do. I am currently trying to "complete the square" but this is not going too well.
How about you use the quadratic formula?
Completing the square is a more tedious process compared to using the Quadratic formula. I can help you with completing the square, however I recommend using the formula.
Are you sure the equation has no typo?
Completing the square: \[x^2-2x+3=0\] \[(x-1)^2-1+3=0\] \[(x-1)^2=-2\] Solving for x-1 \[(x-1)=\sqrt{-2}\] \[x=1\pm\sqrt{2}i \]
@mathmate I think you did an error.
Sorry its my bad your right.
@Boblovesmath Thank you for pointing out. What is it that doesn't work?
Whew! :)
I confused it I did x^2 - 2x -1 +1 +3 = 0 I thought eh x^2 -2x +1 are the ones that factor without the -1. Good Job!
