is Na used as a vasoconstrictor??

Miracrown (miracrown):

Hm, that's more biology. But I think I can answer this with a bit of help from Google. So the issue will be if sodium causes vasodilation or vasocontriction, which will depend on receptors and ion channel balance between cells and plasma in the circulatory system. I don't recall immediately. Thinking...

Miracrown (miracrown):

OK- No, it's not used as a vasoconstrictor. Because despite sodium depletion, blood pressure is maintained, via vasoconstriction.

Miracrown (miracrown):

So the effect of removing sodium from the blood, would be to decrease blood pressure. And when blood pressure decreases, the body compensates for the reduced cardiac output by vasoconstriction.

Miracrown (miracrown):

Since all these bodily systems tend to operate of a homeostasis principle: they try to maintain a dynamic equilibrium.
