Medal and fan What is the pH difference of two samples if the concentration of H+ ions is 1000-fold less in the second sample ? I'm guessing that the answer would be that the pH of the first sample is 3pH units higher than the second sample. Would that be correct? Thanks(:

Wouldn't the pH in the first sample be 3 units lower (smaller number) because it has a higher concentration, so the pH would be a smaller number?

Sorry, I meant lower. It wouldn't be 2 units, it's logarithmic. 4 is ten times higher than 5, 3 is 100 times higher than 5 and 2 is 1000 times higher than 5.

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

sorry about that :P

Haha no, it's cool!
