Write the equation obtained in Part A using function notation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

80x - y = -65 Set it to = 0 80x - y + 65 = 0 isolate y 80x + 65 = y replace y with f(x) f(x) = 80x + 65 @amistre64 is that right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

that is function notation yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D cool, thanks.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you know the difference between saying: y = 80x + 65 and saying f(x) = 80x + 65 ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = f(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's really no difference.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the term 'y' defines a measurement that is located on the y axis. the y axis does not move around the plane. the term 'f(x)' defines an object, in this case a line in the plane. the function can be measured at a given point (x) by comparing it to the y axis.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its the difference between a tree [f(x)] and measureing how high the tree is (y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So y doesn't really matter as long as we know the slope and the x coordinate because we already solved for the y intercept?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y measures f(x), and f(x) is an object that has a measurable value at a given x point.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the distinction is pretty much lost during the math process :) but thats it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Got moar Rocker?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just this and five more: Describe the steps to graph the equation obtained above on the coordinate axes. Mention the labels on the axes and the intervals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Post in a new question, as per usual. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol aight.
