How do you solve 3(4x − 2x) = 8? I end up getting a fraction ._.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First simplify what is in the parentheses. Then multiply 3 times (2x), which will give you 6x. 6x = 8, solve for x. You will get a fraction, that's fine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distribute. 7x - 6x = 8 1x = 8 x = 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait, gotta do inside first because they are of the same degree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 6x = 8 x = 8/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if that's what you got than you're right.

Thank you c:
