What is the role of judicial review in American government? It provides the executive and legislative branches with another check on the powers of the judicial branch. It allows the federal courts to review proposed legislation and possible executive actions for potential issues. It gives the courts the power to invalidate any federal or state law that they believe violates the Constitution. It interprets the vague language of the Constitution, which allows the document to survive changes in society.
