Since it is an isosceles triangle, angles R and T have the same value, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or I should say angles SRT and RTS have the same value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, great! So, since we know SRT = 5x - 30, then we also know RTS = 5x - 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now what is the relation between angles RTS and STU?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both angles..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct, but what do you see when they are next to each other? What do they form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Close, take a look at RTU, which is a 180 degree angle, or a line, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dan815

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now that we know RTU makes a line (or is 180 degrees), we know that RTS and STU combined are 180 degrees, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RTS = 5x - 30 and STU = 5x, and we know RTS + STU = 180, all you have to do is substitute and solve for x!

nvm I Dont understand,
