I need a little help on this please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

|dw:1403470181592:dw|

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

this is how I do it \[\frac{AD}{DB} = \frac{5}{3}\] so 3AD = 5BD then for x \[x = \frac{5 \times 10 + 3 \times 2}{5 + 3}\] and y \[y = \frac{5 \times 2 + 3 \times -6}{5 + 3}\]

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

C have same x coordinate to A

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

and have the same y coordinate to D

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

it uses tor formula for dividing a segment internally \[x = \frac {mx_{1} + nx_{2}}{m + n}\] similar for y

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

hope it helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow thanks you guys are good!

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

:) np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait a sec i know that the x coordinate for C is (2,y) but i cant find y because if i go up 10 woulnd that be (2,4)?

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

i wrote the ration not the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh no duh ! 5:3

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

yeah lol multuibly by 2 :P 5*2 :3*2 10:6 :P

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

\(\frac{AD}{DB}=\frac{5}{3}=\frac{10}{6}\)

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

AD+BD=AB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the ansewr would be (2,-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or (7,-1) @campbell_st

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

yes

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

it cant be (7,-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know cuz of the x coordinate is 2
