Reread "Will there really be a 'Morning'?" on page 230 of your text. Why might Emily wingspaninson have chosen to capitalize the words she did? Cite specific words and possible reasons for capitalizing.
The words she chose are all nouns related to the poem’s tone. The poem accentuates everyday life, and that we need to stop and celebrate. Has it feet like Water lilies? Has it feathers like a Bird? Is it brought from famous countries? Of which I have never heard? Note that in this passage the words “Water” and “Bird” are capitalized, but not “countries.” This is due to the fact that “countries” is not a specific noun. It does not indicate to a specific place. The lilies are continued by the Water part of their name. Note that “lilies” is not capitalized. The lilies are common placed, the Water lilies are distinct. They regard the morning and the day that wingspaninson is investigating. The poem does not have to be accepted as defenseless or helpless. The speaker is spying for results from people who know (Scholar, Sailor), but this does not mean she stops investigating for herself. She might be captured in constant darkness, but she might just be lost in constant wonder.
My teacher said There is more to this than proper nouns. What is the significance of the words she chooses to capitalize? They all symbolize something. Also, consider the poet’s life as a recluse. Why would she see these words as important? Please explain
