Any ideas?
OpenStudy (skullpatrol):
$$\Huge x^2 - 2x = 3$$
OpenStudy (anonymous):
would you set it to 0
OpenStudy (skullpatrol):
Sort of. But the idea is to subtract 3 from both sides first.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh

Nope, not the gcf.
Look for two factors of -3 that have opposite signs and add up to -2.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh yeah i knda remember now..... -3,1
OpenStudy (skullpatrol):
Yes, so the factorization will look like $$\Huge(x-3)(x+1)=0$$
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the answer is -3,1?
OpenStudy (skullpatrol):
No the answer is not -3, 1.

is 0 - 3 = 0?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no
OpenStudy (skullpatrol):
if x = 3 then x - 3 becomes 3 - 3 = 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohh i see
OpenStudy (skullpatrol):
and if x = -1 the other factor becomes 0
