need help simplifying!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{2x^9y^7}\sqrt{6x^4y^5}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Make it into one square root

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i add or multiply the exponents together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You will add the exponents.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

it's easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it will be: \[\sqrt{12x ^{13}y ^{12}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes now.... break the 12 down into_____ and _______.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 and 2 then break the 6 into 3 and 2 and you bring the 2 outside the square root and leave the 3 inside.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now you have.... \[2\sqrt{3x ^{13}y ^{12}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will it be \[x ^{6} \] on the outside and x on the inside?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TRavi14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes next with the y...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bring \[y ^{6}\] outside and nothing inside

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! And that would be your answer! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
